Gone are days when children valued spending time with their grandparents during vacation. The days when the fate of a neighborhood cricket match would decide the number of samosas one would munch are long lost. Nowadays, children have lost the very essence of childhood with the rapid advancement in technology. Conversations that matter are available with just the click of a button. The children don’t need to step outdoors for a game of cricket or so.

They can now don their competitive hats from their screen and spend endless hours in front of their screens. The unfiltered screen presence affects the psyche of a child. Children are so engrossed in their phones and technological gadgets that they restrict movement, thus affecting their physical and mental well-being.

A parent and a teacher have major roles to play during a child’s developmental phase. The little ones need proper guidance on the importance of technology and how it has evolved over the years and has become a boon for many.

Ways to keep a check on technology–

1. A parent should be vigilant while rewarding a child for performing exceptionally at exams or any sports activity. Instead of rewarding their kids with the latest video game or a smartphone, a parent should encourage them to practice reading a book or indulging in any outdoor activity.

2. Using technology to one’s benefit is fine as long as it does not influence or dominate the course of a life. Young individuals easily get fascinated by the online world. As a result, they fall into a trap in the cyber arena. We should explain to a child that what we see online is not always how it appears, and there is a world beyond.

3. When in school, teachers can use playtime to the fullest. The method of storytelling works wonders and helps in social interactions among their peers. Keeping a child busy with creative and innovative ways eases the study process. In addition, we should take extra care of the students facing difficulties with their studies.

4. A child needs to be motivated to take up any sports activity or practice any interest of their choice to excel in life and lead to a successful path. Social interactions prove to be beneficial for a child’s future endeavors.

Conclusion–

People do realize the importance of technology in their lives. They also understand the measures of using the resources provided to them by technology. The quest for advancements and innovations has forced people to overlook the cons of modernity and technological advancement.
