Let’s rejuvenate and talk about health

In a fast-paced and stressful world like ours, staying positive and healthy has become a big challenge for today’s youth. The school-going students are no exception to this. The students experience an ample amount of pressure- be it from their peers, family, or society to always excel in whatever they do. This leads the young minds in experiencing stress and anxiety, which promotes hours of sitting at a place, or unhealthy mental well-being.

At such trying times, calming the senses is of utmost priority. Practicing yoga on a regular basis proves beneficial for leading young minds to a healthy mind and body. Morning yoga sessions at schools have proved to increase productivity and improve levels of concentration amongst students. Here are some of the benefits of including yoga for children in school:

1. Reduces Stress and Anxiety: Yoga proves to be a boon for the students in promoting mental wellbeing and living in the moment by reducing stress and anxiety. An increased academic performance pressure deteriorates the tender minds, thus leading to a stressful and increased level of anxiety.

Practicing yoga regularly helps to calm their senses and bring back peace of mind. Those who practise Yoga regularly not only report lower levels of anxiety but also subsequently increase academic performance.

2. Improves Memory and Attention Span: Yoga proves to be helpful both in the case of adults and children, leading to better academic performance. It also helps to improve a child’s attention span and focus. Yoga aids children suffering from hyperactivity and impulsiveness.

3. Improves Flexibility, Balance, and Posture: Sitting at your desk to study for long hours or too much screen time leads to bad posture amongst children. This poor posture in childhood can develop into a major anatomy complication in adult life.

The daily practice of asanas can lead to improved postures, flexibility, and balance in the body. As such, yoga proves to be beneficial for students in school.

4. Promotes Mindfulness: Mindfulness is simply learning the art of living in the present. A sound even at one of the farthest places can grab your attention if your child practises breathing exercises, another added advantage of practising yoga in schools.

5. Helps to bring Peace of Mind: The whole chaos of the academic curriculum alone can baffle the students. The indistinct urge to stand out in the crowd and excel in life leads to poor mental health.
