Saraswati Puja Celebration at Shemford Futuristic School, Guwahati

Basant Panchami, popularly known as Saraswati Puja is the festival to worship the Goddess of knowledge and music. It is celebrated with much pomp and grandeur in India, mostly in the parts of Assam, West Bengal, and Odisha.

This festival is celebrated in the month of Magh (January-February) amongst the youth. The youth, particularly the students belonging to any educational institution offer prayers to the deity. Every educational institute, small or big celebrates the festival with much enthusiasm.

Shemford Futuristic School, Guwahati celebrates the spirit of Saraswati Puja with utmost devotion and creativity. Maa Saraswati symbolizes creative energy and is considered the Goddess of knowledge, music, art, wisdom, and learning. The Goddess is worshipped to attain enlightenment through knowledge and rid ourselves of lethargy, sluggishness, and ignorance.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year the celebration at the school was very low-key. Our Shemstars participated in various cultural programs conducted by the school, virtually. An online song and dance recital to the tune of Saraswati Vandana was performed by our Shemstars. The day ended with a puja conducted at the school premises. Parents, students and teachers joined for the puja through the online mode.
